The primary objective of The GeoChristian is to increase science literacy among Evangelical Christians, especially in the areas of the Earth and environmental sciences. I aim to discuss controversial topics in ways that are sound both Biblically and scientifically, and to do so in a way that treats all readers with respect.

Do you have any personal experience with the sudden emergence of abortion as a headline issue for protestants in the US in the late 70′s ?
Prior to the late 70′s, abortion was seen as a catholic issue, and almost completely ignored by protestants.
Boz — By the time I started thinking about such things in the early 1980s, Francis Schaeffer and others had woken up the Evangelical community to the abortion issue. We Evangelicals are often behind the bus on important issues rather than leading the way. Examples include the civil rights movement, abortion, and the environment.
